UPCOMING EVENTS
Overview
The Program Committee is an active committee that strives to provide quality continuing education opportunities to our membership and mental health providers in the community. Programs are provided by highly qualified social workers and other professionals in the field at a reasonable cost. Input and ideas are taken from members in regards to topics and trainings they would like to have.
This past fall and spring (2008-2009), the committee has provided the following programs, all of which have been free for students and low cost for professionals: Play Therapy by Betsy Allen, Reactive Attachment Disorder by Dr. James Drisko, and Plagues of Our Times: Ethics in the time of disaster, by Jane Finch. And as with all of our programs, continuing education credits are earned.
The Program Committee welcomes new people to our committee to help plan and help provide superior educational programs for our members and the community. The task of the committee is to find relevant and timely topics of interest to members and to identify experts on those topics. Society members who can provide stimulating post-graduate and advanced educational experiences for clinicians typically represent our presenters. We currently have 6 members who serve on the program committee. The committee meetings are held in Raleigh, although members from around the state are invited to join the committee. By participating, committee members will receive an agenda, minutes, and are able to offer their ideas and suggestions by telephone or by email to the committee chair.
