Committee on Psychoanalysis
The National Membership Committee on Psychoanalysis
In Clinical Social Work,
(NMCOP)
North Carolina Chapter

Although our local chapter of the NMCOP is not "officially" on the Board of the NC Society for Clinical Social Work, we are strong supporters of the Clinical Society and  the Board has been kind enough to include us and involve us in their proceedings.

Terrie Baker, MSW and I are the co-chairs of our local chapter and we are also the Treasurer and President, respectively  of the National NMCOP.  Locally we sponsor workshops and involve ourselves with other psychoanalytic organizations to promote the study and application of psychoanalytic thought particularly as it interfaces with social work.

On the national level our aims and purposes are as follows:

To represent and protect the standing and
advancement of psychoanalytic social work
practitioners and educators.

To provide an organizational identity for social work professionals engaged in
psychoanalytically informed practice.

To promote and disseminate the
understanding of psychoanalytic theory and
knowledge within the social work profession and the public.

To effect liaisons with other organizations and professions who share common objectives for social work and the advancement of psychoanalytic theory and practice.

To advocate for the highest standards of
practice and for quality mental health care for the public.
