The North Carolina Society for Clinical Social Work
is a professional organization specifically for clinical social workers which promotes high standards of professional education, ethical practice and achievement. It is our goal to increase the expertise of the clinical social worker by providing education through workshops, presentations and courses. We also desire to protect the mental health consumer and maintain quality service through active maintenance of the NC licensure and vendorship laws and to promote consumer choice in selecting mental health professionals.
The North Carolina Society is a member of the Clinical Social Work Federation and a member of the Clinical Social Work Guild, Local 49, one of the guilds of the National Guild of Medical Professionals of the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU) which is affiliated with the AFL-CIO. The Federation and the Guild work to promote the public image of clinical social workers as independent mental health practitioners and to advocate for mental health consumers on the state and national levels.
The Federation is comprised of all state societies which collectively benefit from this affiliation by speaking as the Voice of Clinical Social Work in national and state forums.
