NCSCSW is a professional organization specifically for clinical social workers. We promote high standards of professional education, ethical practice and achievement. It is our goal to increase the expertise of the clinical social worker by providing education through workshops, presentations and courses. We also desire to protect the mental health consumer, maintain quality service and promote consumer choice in selecting mental health professionals.

Virginia Satir’s Legacy and Beyond with Jean McLendon

Jean is excited to be presenting Satir’s Growth Model at a time when research from the field of neurobiology is so validating of its tenants. Satir knew, well over 50 years ago, that a deep and emotional-spiritual connection was required for healing deep, debilitating wounds. Satir’s model is centered in humanistic values and family of origin understanding. It is a mind-body-spirit system where the therapist’s congruence both leads and follows process. ICD 10 Implementation Deadline coming in October

If all goes according to schedule, private and government insurances will be requiring that we use ICD-10 codes in our billing starting Oct. 15. The NCSCSW will be keeping you updated all year on developments as this rolls out.

BCBS of North Carolina will begin credentialing LCSWAs

After many months of advocacy by NCSCSW and NASW-NC, some important news for clinical social workers came out this week.

BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina will begin credentialing LCSWAs in their provider network. This will happen on a county-by-county basis, on a rolling calendar beginning this month.

The schedule for credentialing is as follows:

· March 2015: Buncombe, Burke, and Cleveland Counties.
· April 2015: Guilford, Lee, and Mecklenburg Counties.
· May 2015: Orange, Pitt, and Cumberland Counties. » Read more
