This interactive training will provide education on the current standards of telehealth practice. It will allow participants to identify ethical dilemmas and understand their driving force when making decisions. It will also provide group discussions on utilizing NASW Code of Ethics and applying ethical decision-making models to ensure you do the right thing.

We will use several case studies throughout the presentation for group discussions.

  • Participants will engage in group exercises/discussions to determine best practices for handling ethical dilemmas. 

Biography:

Alesha Perkins is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia and North Carolina and a Certified Case Manager. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and her Master of Social Work from the University of Central Florida. Alesha has over 19 years of experience in the social work field with vast knowledge in medical social work, child protective services, case management, mental health and substance abuse counseling. Ten years ago she began her instructional career providing ethics trainings to dialysis providers, and since then has created and facilitated numerous trainings on ethics, professional boundaries, behavioral health, motivational interviewing for mental health and medical professionals. She has presented her ethics training for the National Association of Social Workers-Virginia Chapter. She is an advocate for eliminating mental health disparities and provides education in minority communities by doing speaking engagements and community health fairs to promote mental health awareness. Alesha is a former Clinical Director for a mental health agency and currently works for a health insurance provider as a Program Manager. In addition, she provides clinical supervision and is an instructor for Perkins Medical Services which has been in business for 21 years and is owned by her mother a nurse educator. Perkins Medical Services provides quality medical and mental health training to those who work for child care centers, residential facilities, mental health agencies, etc.
