How Do I Choose? Finding the Right Therapeutic Approach For Your Clients
Saturday, June 19, 2021, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM EDT
Category: Virtual Trainings

New psychotherapy approaches are developed at a dizzying pace in our current era. This is particularly difficult for new therapists but can also be bewildering for more experienced therapists. This training will discuss how to choose a therapy approach that is the best fit for both therapist and client. Case examples will be used to demonstrate key concepts. The workshop will provide guidance about the common factors in psychotherapy, understanding new approaches, how to choose an approach for a particular client and how to focus one’s continuing education efforts.

As a result of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the process for deciding on a therapy approach with a particular client, considering client and therapist factors as well as the research.
  • List three common factors in most all psychotherapies that can be laterally transferred between different therapeutic approaches.
  • Describe a plan for your continuing education in being expert in at least one approach and proficient in several other approaches.

This conference provides 2 contact hours of continuing education credit for social workers. Certificates will be provided following the training
